Anthem is fundamentally incompetent. The level of expertise of their first line representatives is an order of magnitude lower than United Healthcare. 1. My application was received but for some reason (despite their assurances) unprocessed. 2. It took me 6 weeks and many hours of calls before I could get straight information on a Part D drug. They lost forms, sent the wrong ones, directed me to the wrong department, etc. 3. Today I got a message which was cut off. Turns out that I have to call their pharmacy to authorize an expensive prescription. But I have to call back tomorrow, as it is past 4 pm in New York (2:00 here in California). And this is just a SAMPLE of the problems I've had with them.

I have been on this plan for over a year now and have been very pleased with the plan. I have one generic prescription (generic for Duragesic Fentanyl patches) that other plans required a $450. co-pay for, but this plan just charged the standard $10. My other big concern was the "donut" gap where a lot of plans stop paying after they have paid a certain amount and don't start paying again you have paid around $6,000. The monthly premium is more expensive than many others, but for people like me with very expensive prescriptions, it looked like the best by far.
