Reputable Canadian and other low-cost pharmacies, such as those you find online, are a good option because you can often save 50% off of your drug bill. However, if you join a Medicare drug plan and buy from a pharmacy not in your plan’s network then it will not count toward your deductible. If you do purchase from Canadian and other international online/mail-order pharmacies make sure it is highly rated on www.PharmacyChecker.com, VIPPS certified, or CIPA certified. Also, keep in mind that generic drugs are often least expensive at U.S. online pharmaices.

Canadian and online pharmacies should be considered for anyone who expects to make it into the donut hole (coverage gap) yet not make it to catastrophic coverage after $5100 in Rx costs. A person must pay their plan's full costs for the deductible phase and the coverage gap phase ($2250-$5100). If catastrophic coverage is not in reach, then shop around during the times you must pay 100%. I have a feeling some of the plans' network prices are more than paying cash elsewhere, including in Canada. Just because you have an insurance card, you do not always have to use it, especially if it means paying a higher price.
Just make sure you really understand how much your drugs costs before doing it, because purchases in Canada cannot be used toward the aggregate of $5100 for the catastrophic benefit.

I have used www.drugs4seniors.org for two years. They have the least expensive medications I have found. very good to deal with. I save about 50-70% on Lipitor , nexium and Fosamax

In checking out drugs4seniors.com, an India based online pharmacy, they declare that if you request a drug but do not send along a prescription from your doctor, they will have their staff doctor fill out a prescription so as to complete the sale. I guess this is OK in India but I know that it is not legal for a Canadian pharmacy to do this. Good or bad? I leave that to your judgement, but for as for me, it is questionable ethically and medically. Also they say that common drug names we are familiar with in the US (eg: Fosomax) are used only for ease of ID. The actual product is of foreign manufacture. Not necessarily bad, but for me, the jury is out on drugs4seniors pending more complete knowledge. On the other hand, Canadian pharmacies, in my long experience are totally ethical and measure up to US standards. Still, be careful, as canadian pharmacies are starting to offer lower priced meds from other countries. However they are very clear on explaining the options. Look for the Pharmacy Checker and CIPA cerifications on their sites. I have investigated by calling those orgs and discovered that they are Canadian export pharmacies self-policing bodies

My mother has been buying drugs from Canada, specifically Canada drugs, for years. She faxes her perscriptions and talks to them on the telephone. They ship a three month supply by mail and we have never had a problem.

My wife has used a Canadian pharmacy now for almost 2 years (in fact, we just ordered a refill today) and we are extremely well pleased in every respect. We communicate with them by email, fax and telephone and find them to be totally professional and reliable. Our doctors work with us and write 90-day prescriptions where appropriate.
Our orders are always received safely and in less time than anticipated. We are both over 65 and plan to continue using ADVCare Pharmacy selectively and as appropriate to our circumstances. Hope my comments are helpful to someone.

I have been ordering my prescription from The Canadian Pharmacy (www.TheCanadianPharmacy.com) for over two years now. They are a smaller, family-owned pharmacy business and you can tell they pride themselves on providing good service. The most important thing to me is who I am dealing with at the pharmacy. This pharmacy is owned by David and Sara and I usually ask to speak with one of them personally when I place my orders. I have no hesitation on recommending them to anyone I speak with about ordering medications from Canada. I have recommended them to several in my family and also my friends and all have been equally satisfied with their pharmacy. If you are looking for a trustworthy, quick and inexpensive pharmacy to deal with, give them a try. I have been very pleased with them.
One of the best services they have offered me is a personal evaluation which compared by Rx costs under Medicare to their prices from their pharmacy. I spend ~ $6000 annually and for me it was not worth enrolling in Medicare. I am going to stick with The Canadian Pharmacy.

I started using RXNorth a Canadian Pharmacy about a year ago. First I checked with a number of sources in Canada and found the firm is highly regarded. My meds cost about $11,000 US/year. Now I spend about 50% for THE SAME DRUGS FROM THE SAME USA DRUG COMPANIES. I find RXNorth prompt and responsive both by mail and by phone. The "donut hole" with the "D" plan keeps me in Canada.

I have used Canada Pharmacy for nearly one year for my Lipitor, and Fosimax and Protonix for my wife. They are reputable, efficient, and less costly than local, US pharmacies. My doctor prescribes 90 day refills, and I fax them the order and speak with them by phone; no complaints. But my government has reared its ugly head. This week I received an ominous letter from the Dept of Homeland Security/US Customs (it was legitimate) informing me that they had "interdicted" illegal drugs (Protonix) and they would be destroyed. What reason they had to open my first class mail is a mystery to me. When I called Canada Pharmacy to advise them I was told that this happens on an infrequent basis, and I was directed to fax the letter along with my order number, and they would reship at no charge. Has anyone else had a similar experience, or is this the begining of a new wave of intrusions? I would love to know. Thanks.
