After covering my prescription in 2017 without question, they denied coverage for my prescription which was the lowest dosage available and on their list of formulary “approved” drugs “after” I joined the Plan for 2018. Denied pre/authorization received from my doctor and denied my appeal. Seven conditions had to be met to be approved or the drug which meant that I would have had to been on my deathbed to receive the medication. Express scripts is included without choice in my Medicare Advantage Plan medical Plan therefore I cannot switch providers to a Part D prescription drug plan without terminating my Medical Plan. I am stuck for the remainder of 2018 or 10 months having to pay the monthly premium without receiving the benefits I am paying for. Express Scripts was aware of the prescription I needed in 2017 but never provided me with a written notice of discontinuation of my drug availability either prior to or during the 2018 Medicare open enrollment period. This is what I call bait and switch getting me to continue my membership and paying premiums without prescription coverage.

Premium is too high compared to other plans. However, most of my regular meds are covered. My thyroid med was not on their formulary, so I had to pay for that myself. I had to drop some of my allergy/asthma meds because they were also not covered and their costs were too high for me to afford. As a result, my allergy symptoms are horrible. My quality of life has definitely been lowered because I cannot get my allergy meds, but I cannot afford them by myself, so I had no choice.

Awful! Why does a drug I have been taking for 10 years suddenly require "authorization" from my doctor? Isn't the doctor's prescription the same as authorization? I'm going back to getting my scripts at the drugstore with written script in hand. This mail order business is a huge time waster and seems to try to throw up every obstacle possible to delivering your Rxs.
