I had spinal surgery in Feb 2013. Medicare and my Supplement insurance covered all costs of the surgery except approximately $101 of pain medications.
First Health Part D representative said I needed to pay those expenses myself and then get reimbursed by First Health. I have spent over 20(!) hours and submitted my claim at least 4 times. Despite First Health having all the information requested they still have not processed my claim. I received a notice of denial today, which stated they did not have the National Drug Code (NDC) numbers for the drugs, despite the fact that I highlighted the NDC numbers with yellow highlighter in claim submitted so they would not miss it! Their representatives cannot view the claim submitted (said computers have been down for a month!) You cannot email a copy of claim to rep, because it must be faxed due to HIPA restrictions. Everyone at First Health Part D who I have talked to is either an idiot or under instructions to delay and frustrate policy holders from placing claims. My claim still has not been processed, and I'm sure I will be spending even more time on this.
Coventry/First Health Part D is the worst insurance company in the world! I urge you to avoid First Health Part D like the plague!
