I'm not a mean person. But, I can't think of a single nice thing to say about this company.

Humana is unable to function as a company. The company is a complete failure within the health insurance industry. I hope the company will find a way to invest in something else, so that their primary share holders will not lose everything. While "Humana" remains a "big name" in the health insurance industry, Humana is on the road to bankruptcy. Please, make sure you research Humana before trusting my words. But, in the end, Humana is a dead company.

Never a problem filling a prescription at a local pharmacy. Transferring one from local pharmacy to mail order was much more difficult and time-consuming - one cust. svc. rep. didn't know how to do this. Mail order via CVS takes longer than my Canadian pharmacy to deliver so re-filling must be done quite early. Web site is outstanding (if very slow). Reports of spending, deductibles, etc. are almost too detailed (8 pages long), but at least you know where you stand at any given point. You can also see where you stand (in phase I, etc.) on the web site. All in all pretty satisfied and premiums are excellent.

My local pharmacy accepted the Humana card with no problem. Shifting a maintenance prescription from an initial order at the local pharmacy to mail order was a bit of an ordeal. Customer service has been excellent. The reports of benefits are in great detail, though I was very disappointed to learn that the amount used to determine when one gets to stage 2, i.e., paying 100%, is the amount the patient pays plus the amount Humana paid for the drug. So while I paid only $38 for my comvent inhaler, Humana paid $114. So the amount used to calculate the $2250 "donut hole" is $152. As a result I am rapidly approaching that threshold even though I take only 4 drugs regularly. Presumably, all plans use the same arithmetic, which was not clear when the plans were first promoted.
