I'm opposed to the way Walmart pays their store employees. I haven't had a lot of sympathy for any business that can't pay their employees a living wage...to my way of thinking, if you can't afford to pay your employees a living wage, you haven't figured out how to have a business....many of us aren't that business savy so we get a job from someone who has figured out how to run a business.
On the other hand, they do have the most reasonably priced Medicare drug plan (Walmart/Humana)(Started at $14.95 2 years ago, Went to $18 last year and now is $12.80 for 2014. They are big enough to get good wholesale prices on drugs....maybe that is what they should specialize in, considering that the drug market is inflated beyond what things are worth (I have even less sympathy for the drug companies). But you do have to get these drugs at Walmart to get the good prices. Hopefully they pay their Pharmacists and Techs decently. I should add that I don't have much but a few generic drugs,,,,except an expensive Diabetes drug (for which I had to try others that made me sick and my doc had to apply for an exception 3 times, but I did get it.) My insulin is expensive, but I don't think I can get it any cheaper elsewhere (I check these things every so often.)
At least for drugs, this plan is reasonable...and maybe ethically OK....surely they haven't figured out how to pay Pharmacists minimum wage.
